Warning: Buying bicycles online
With so many internet/mail-order companies offering discounted bicycles, people often overlook the disadvantages to purchasing a bike from the internet and go on to have a bad experience with cycling.
Here are a few points why we think you should avoid buying a bike from a internet site.
Some things are not designed to be bought online.
Bicycles are one of them. A bicycle is a big but delicate thing to have delivered. When you buy a bike online it will arrive to you in a box unassembled, which means, you will have to assemble it yourself, using your own tools. Bicycles have many small parts (e.g. nuts and bolts) that can be lost in delivery, and some parts can be hard to replace.
Assembly usually requires specific bicycle tools.
Our workshop has a tool for every part of the bike, and different bikes have different parts, we occasionally have people asking to borrow a certain tool to assemble a bike they bought online, not realising how complicated bicycles are to assemble.
The gears will need to be set-up for them to work properly.
If not, they will slip and could cause the chain to come off, and this is potentially dangerous.
Our mechanics have been fully trained in how to adjust and fine tune your gears.
These are just a few issues that face anyone buying a bike over the internet.
All our bikes come fully assembled, gears and brakes set up, with a years warranty, and you can always visit us to talk about your bike.
